Matthew 6:7-8 (MSG);* The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need.

PRAYER–PRINCIPLE OVER METHOD

The realm of the Spirit of God responds to principle and not to method.

This truth is key if you must have an effective life of prayer.

Many people are overly preoccupied with the methods of prayer and assume that it is the method that brings the answers. No, it is not the method of prayer that will bring the answer. Rather, it is the principles of prayer that will bring the results of prayer.

I have heard men teach about ACTS in prayer, which is an acronym for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. That is a method and not a principle of prayer. Nowhere in the scriptures does God instruct us to pray following this order.

Praying while kneeling is a method of prayer. It is not a principle. It is therefore erroneous to judge a man because he did not kneel while praying. God does not answer prayer because a man knelt down or stood up while he prayed.

Methods of prayer will always differ but the principles are the same. What God requires of you is to invest in understanding the principles and not the methods.

Praying in faith is a principle of prayer. Invest in understanding how faith works.

Praying with the Word is a principle of prayer.  Study the scriptures so that you can know what to say when you pray.

It is the principles that define the relationship we have with God in prayer, not the method.

GOLDEN NUGGET:The realm of the Spirit of God responds to principle and not to method. Methods of prayer will always differ but the principles are the same. What God requires of you is to invest in understanding the principles and not the methods.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. I receive this wisdom of effective prayer and apply it diligently to my life. I understand the principles of prayer and abide by them, above the methods of prayer. I see results in prayer because I have this knowledge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
