Proverbs 25:6-7 (KJV); Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
INVITED BY GREATNESS
It is expedient for every Christian to understand how to relate with greatness. This is important because God has appointed people from whom we are to learn and grow.
One of the principles of relating with greatness is revealed in our theme scripture. The Bible cautions us not to put forth ourselves in the presence of a king. The message version of the scripture says, “Don’t work yourself into the spotlight.”
Thus, one of the biggest mistakes one can make in relating with greatness is to invite themselves into the spaces of great men.
The Message version goes on to say, “it is better to be promoted to a place of honour than face humiliation by being demoted.”
The prophet Daniel, a wise man, in whom was an excellent spirit, lived by this pattern. When God revealed to Daniel the secret of king Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel did not pompously present himself to the king with his answer. The Bible says he spoke to the captain of the king’s guard, Arioch, who opened the door for him to speak with the king (Daniel 2:24-25).
A man shuts the doors of opportunity when he deliberately invites himself into the place of greatness. In Proverbs 18:16, the Bible says that a man’s gift makes room for him. Let your talent, gift or craft pave the way for you.
If the doors are still shut, perhaps your craft requires more work. Make the decision to invest in yourself, grow your abilities, and multiply your strengths. It will only be a matter of time. The doors shall open. Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: A man shuts the doors of opportunity when he deliberately invites himself into the place of greatness. If the doors are still shut, perhaps your craft requires more work. Make the decision to invest in yourself, grow your abilities, and multiply your strengths. It will only be a matter of time. The doors shall open.
PRAYER: Father, I thank you for this truth. The Spirit of humility is at work in me. It is what opens doors for my sake. By wisdom, I never invite myself into the places of greatness. I am instructed and directed by You. As such, You open doors for me and You invite me into my God-ordained opportunities, to the glory of Your name, Amen.
