1 Samuel 16:19-21 (KJV); Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep. And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul. And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.
SERVING THE OFFICE
There is an anointing that operates by reason of the office one is functioning in. This anointing of the office gives one access to certain graces in God. An example of this is Caiaphas the High Priest at the time of Jesus’ death. He prophesied the fact that “one man should die for the people.” In John 11:51, the Bible says, “And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation.” This was the anointing of the office of the High Priest at work.
This is the reason why any man who seeks success must know how to serve the office in which he wants to operate. That office works by an anointing and an authority from God.
The wisdom of serving the office is demonstrated by the life of David. Despite the fact that he had been anointed by Samuel as the king of Israel, it was imperative for him to serve Saul, (the office of the king) before he could be crowned as king of Israel.
God could not send him straight to the throne without him having lived through the stage of serving the office of the king. The anointing of the office could only mantle David through this service.
There is a deep lesson herein for believers. Regardless of what you want to become, you must know how to serve the office first. This is the reason why there is such a thing as apprenticeships in the world.
Do you want to grow as a minister? Serve a man or woman of God. Do you want to launch a successful business? Serve another man’s business. Do you want to grow in your career? Be diligent in your present position and serve your supervisor diligently.
What you celebrate and honour, you attract.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for those that have gone before me. I know that they are patterns for my learning. I am aligned in the wisdom of serving the office. Great graces unfold to me because I live in this understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
