2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV); Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

WEIGHED BY GOD II

Self-examination is an important spiritual discipline. If you do not practice it, you may come to the presence of the father with an identity that is not yours.

There is an interesting perspective to the story of Jacob and Esau that I wish to open your eyes to.

When Jacob stole his brother’s blessing, it was a case of a man [in the flesh] seeking a position that was not his.

His father Isaac said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” (Genesis 27:22).

This is happening in the church of Christ today. Men are approaching the father with the voice of Jacob but the hands of Esau. What they say is not who they are.

While Jacob’s trick could work on a blind father, understand that God is not blind.

The heavenly father sees beyond actions to the state of the heart.

He can never be fooled by hands alone (what men do outwardly).

This is why we must humble ourselves to God to allow Him to weigh our hearts because this weighing reveals our true state in God so that He can do His desired work in us.

GOLDEN NUGGET: Self-examination is an important spiritual discipline. If you do not practice it, you may come to the presence of the father with an identity that is not yours.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this knowledge. I know that You are dealing with me every day. I am broken and bent before You. May I never look to what is on the outside to justify my place in You. My heart is on the altar that You may truly weigh me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
