Luke 18:10-14 (KJV); Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

WEIGHED BY GOD I

The man who knows his true state is the man who will make the purest prayer of the heart.

If you do not know your true state, you will live by a form of deception that could eventually destroy you.

The Pharisee in our theme scripture did not know his position in God. He was deluded by his actions into thinking that they qualified him as the better man.

What the Pharisee did not know was that he was guilty of the gross sin of self-righteousness.

It is the humble heart, like that of the publican that God seeks.

It is humility to know your struggles in the flesh and take them to God that He may deal with you.

This humility starts with the man that has learnt to examine himself and allowed God to search his heart.

Being under the grace dispensation does not mean that we gloss over sin and confess our perfections without allowing God to deal with any struggle one might have in the flesh.

GOLDEN NUGGET: The man who knows his true state is the man who will make the purest prayer of the heart.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. I embrace it with all humility. I yield my heart to You that You may search me and lead me in the paths of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
