1 Corinthians 1:26-27 (KJV); For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CALLING II

In our theme scripture, Paul focuses on the things that DO NOT define the calling. He points us to what the calling is not about so that we never focus on such things.

The calling is not about how wise you are in the flesh. God does not choose you because you are very intelligent or intellectually sound. The smartest person in the classroom is not the one that qualifies for God’s appointment.

The calling is not about how mighty you are. This is not merely about physical might but all forms of might; for example, financial might or social might. God will not choose you because your family is pedigreed and you come from a long line of blue bloods. In fact, He will not choose you simply because your parents were great Bishops. He has picked men from the most dysfunctional families and heavily anointed them.

The calling of God is not about how noble you are. It is not because you have lived a straight life and are a true paragon of virtue.

Never write yourself off as one who can never be used by God. The very reason you feel unqualified is why God will choose you because in your weakness, His strength is made perfect.

Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: Never write yourself off as one who can never be used by God. The very reason you feel unqualified is why God will choose you because in your weakness, His strength is made perfect.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this Word. I thank You for Your calling upon my life. Who am I that You chose me? I had nothing to offer but You still looked upon me with mercy and grace and called me. I am forever humbled. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
