Psalm 42:1 (KJV); As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
ABOVE ALL ELSE, A RELATIONSHIP
We live in a dispensation where the Word of God is readily available to us. It is in print, on our phones, on our laptops and in various accessible devices of choice. We have the 66 books of the Bible compiled and availed to us for our study and reading.
However, when I think of the great men and women of old, they did not have the Word like we have it today.
Think about Abraham. Did he have Matthew, Colossians, Romans or Hebrews?
How about the apostle Paul? Did he have the gospels of John, the writings of James or the book of revelation? No, he did not.
Why then did these men who did not have the Word in the abundance that we have today, demonstrate greater results of this Word than we do?
The answer is that when the Word was availed to us, it became a source of debate.
Today, we split theological hairs over everything conceivable. Whether Christ died on a cross or on a tree; whether we should pray with eyes closed or eyes open; whether it is godly for people to fall under the power of the Holy Spirit or not? We have too much Word but no relationship.
God wants us to move past the point of debates to the point of desiring a relationship with Him above all else.
Abraham was called away from his home and journeyed to an unknown land, not on the basis of Hebrews 4:12 but on the basis of a relationship and in this relationship, he tasted the faithfulness of God.
Moses did not have Romans 6 but the Bible says that he saw Him that was invisible because He had a relationship.
When God leads us to the Word, it is not so we can find something else to argue about. It is so we find Him, the source of all things.
Hallelujah!
FURTHER STUDY: Psalm 63:1-2, John 5:38-39
GOLDEN NUGGET: When God leads us to the Word, it is not so we can find something else to argue about. It is so we find Him, the source of all things.
PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this Word. My heart pants for You and my spirit longs for Your presence. I dedicate my life to seeking Your face. I find You in Your Word and in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
