1 John 5:14-15(KJV); And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
EFFECTIVE PRAYER
Effective prayer requires that you understand the covenant under which you are. If you pray with an old covenant mindset in a new covenant dispensation, you will frustrate the expected results of prayer.
For example, I have heard Born Again Christians make reference to 2 Chronicles 7:14 in prayer. The scripture says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Who was God addressing?
He was speaking to proud and hard hearted men. Are you?
He was referring to people who do not seek His face. Don’t you?
He was referring to wicked men. Are you?
If you own the reality of being a proud, non-prayerful and wicked man, you will see the results of this very confession in your life.
As a Born Again Christian, you must understand that the Spirit that you received is meek. You are humble in character. The same Spirit causes you to pray and gives you utterance. Indeed, you are a seeker of God (Acts 2:4). Further than that, you are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). You are not wicked.
Carry this understanding in prayer. Have the confidence that when you pray, He hears you and because He hears you, you have whatsoever that you desire of Him.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this Word. I thank You for the Spirit that moves me to pray in wisdom and in understanding. I enjoy the fruits of effective prayer. I see answers and change in my life because of this knowledge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
