Isaiah 6:5(KJV); Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
WHY RIGHTEOUSNESS?
Every time people encountered God the ultimate wonder, they became conscious of their natural and sinful state.
Isaiah in our theme scripture is one such man. He declared, “I am a man of unclean lips and dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips.”
Simon Peter in the New Testament is another example. When He encountered the Christ for the first time, He said, “Depart from me for I am a sinful man.” (Luke 5:8).
Such experiences help us appreciate the importance of the imputed righteousness of God (Romans 4:8).
Jesus Christ did not wait for Peter to become a better man before He called Him. Right there and then He told him, “From henceforth, thou shalt catch men.” (Luke 5:10).
When you came to God, you were not perfect in flesh but He disregarded the vileness, the weakness and the wickedness and still called you His righteousness.
He called you without your need to clean up your act. It didn’t matter where you had been and what you had done, He did not look at the unclean lips or your unclean associations. The gift of righteousness was undeserved and yet freely given.
What a God!

GOLDEN NUGGET: When you came to God, you were not perfect in flesh but He disregarded the vileness, the weakness and the wickedness and still called you His righteousness. The gift of righteousness was undeserved and yet freely given.
PRAYER: Father I am thankful for Your boundless grace and mercy and for the free gift of righteousness. I have received it, embraced it and I am established in it. It is my doctrine and the foundation of my faith. I live with the confidence of one freed from sin forever because Your seed abides in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
