Apostle Grace Lubega
Matthew 6:6(KJV); But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
SHUT THY DOOR
One of the laws of effective prayer is a closed door. This is not merely a physical but spiritual door. This door must be closed because God alone must dominate every aspect of your altar.
When we close the door to the world, we open ourselves to God. This means that in prayer, we die to the world and live to Him.
Why then do some people pray with open closets? It is because of their needs.
Need keeps the door to the prayer closet constantly open because by its nature, it can never cease. As a person, there will never be a moment in life where you do not need something.
If it’s not a breakthrough in business, then it is something to do with your spouse. If it is not your spouse, then it is something to do with your child. If it is not your child, it is your boss. If it is not your boss, it is your in-laws. If it is not your in-laws, it is your neighbours. If it is not your neighbours, it is the colour of your skin, your height, your house!
Need is the reason why people go to prayer with a shopping list.
Prayer is supposed to be a place of the death of the flesh. Our personal needs keep the flesh alive in prayer.
Shut thy door. When you close the door, it means that you set personal needs aside and seek God for who He is. He becomes the focus of your prayer life.

GOLDEN NUGGET: One of the laws of effective prayer is a closed door. When we close the door to the world, we open ourselves to God. This means that in prayer, we die to the world and live to Him.
PRAYER: My Lord, I thank You for this Word. I receive and embrace it as my reality. Personal needs can never be allowed to dominate my closet. I choose to shut the door and seek You for who You are and not merely what You can do. I hunger for Your way and not just Your acts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
