TO PROVOKE DIVINITY

Mark 11:12-14(KJV); And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry: And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

When Christ stood before the fig tree demanding that it yield its fruit to Him because He was hungry, its failure to do so was a direct challenge to His divine authority because the tree saw Him as a mere man.

This was creation failing to recognise the creator; the servant failing to bow to the master.

Christ’s response was to curse it because nothing provokes divinity like questioning the reality of God in a human form.

In 1 Timothy 3:16, the Bible says, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

When God walked the surface of the earth in flesh, there are those who, like this tree dared to question His divinity. The scriptures reveal that He was justified and vindicated in the Spirit. It was proven to the world that He was God.

This same God lives in You. When people doubt you and question His power through You, that is the perfect opportunity for Him to prove Himself.

Never mind the naysayers and those who ridicule you for the things you believe. Take courage remembering that it is a provocation of God to prove Himself and He will do so in no uncertain terms. When your faith is criticized and you’re mocked for your beliefs, take heart for God is more than ready to show Himself strong on your behalf.

Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY: 1 Corinthians 6:17, Acts 17:28

GOLDEN NUGGET: Nothing provokes divinity like questioning the reality of God in a human form. Never mind the naysayers and those who ridicule you for the things you believe remembering that it is a provocation for God to prove Himself and He will do so in no uncertain terms.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this Word. You are in me and I am in You and we are one. I live my life in the confidence of one who carries the image of Christ. Every thing in my life is a testimony of Your work through me, to the glory of Your name, Amen.
