Ephesians 1:17-18(KJV); That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

BE WISE IN KNOWLEDGE

Knowing the Word of God and what it says does not mean that you are wise in the knowledge of God.

In the Message version of 1 Corinthians 8:7, the Bible says, “…But knowing isn’t everything. If it becomes everything, some people end up as know-it-alls who treat others as know-nothings…”

There are Christians who are unwise in how they demonstrate faith, unwise in how they prophesy, unwise in deliverance, unwise in how they restore the brethren and even unwise in how they defend the Christian faith. They have knowledge but they lack wisdom in that knowledge.

The scriptures we quote every day, I assure you, can destroy the ignorant and unstable.

In 2 Peter 3:16(MSG) the Bible says, “…Some things Paul writes are difficult to understand. Irresponsible people who don’t know what they are talking about twist them every which way. They do it to the rest of the Scriptures, too, destroying themselves as they do it.”

Over the course of history, men have destroyed themselves (and others), in quoting that for which they lack wisdom.

The Salem witch trials championed by Puritans were “backed” by scripture. The crusades in the medieval period, aimed at recovering the Holy Land from Islamic rule had scriptural “backing”. Men have quoted scripture to start wars, shed innocent blood and destroy entire nations.

What does this mean to you child of God?

Firstly, you must remember that no scripture is of private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20).

We error when we ride on the wheels of scriptures that we have isolated from the general context of the entire Word of God.

Secondly, understand that the Word and the Spirit agree. If you quote a scripture calling fire down from heaven because you have such impressive faith, and forget that the Spirit of God is full of compassion for the lost, you stray outside the walls of divine wisdom.

Lastly, be conscious of the fact that Christ has been made your wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30) and as such, His wisdom at work in you causes you to exercise your knowledge in God wisely.

Praise be to His name!

FURTHER STUDY: 2 Peter 3:16, 1 Peter 2:8

GOLDEN NUGGET: Christ has been made your wisdom and as such, His wisdom at work in you causes you to exercise your knowledge in God wisely.

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this Word. I am wise in how I minister, serve and demonstrate the life of God. When people study my life, they see a pattern of wisdom because my experiences with You and in You are not only of knowledge but of the wisdom that comes from above. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
